Amazon.com Places '42 Rules of Marketing' On Top Positions

"42 Rules of Marketing", Laura Lowell's series of practical guide books meant to help readers remember  the things they know they should do, but don't, has been placed on the fifth position in the business humor category and on the 24th position in the business marketing category on Amazon.com. Launched in September 2007, "42 Rules of Marketing" is the first book in the series conceived by Laura Lowell in partnership with Happy About, Inc. A specific topic is targeted in each of these books, offering fun, easy-to- read reminders using real life examples to make the point.

The author of the book stated: "Writing a book feels like such an enormous task to most people, including me. I was convinced that I wanted to "self-publish" my book. But when the printer asked me what kind of paper I wanted, and the graphic designer asked me if I had my ISBN number, and the copyeditor wanted another check, I realized that I didn't want to be a publisher. I just wanted to get my book published."

The book was published with the help of publisher Mitchell Levy, CEO of Happy About, Inc. After realizing her goal, she turned her attention to helping others realize theirs. Together with Happy About, Lowell is offering a program called "Super Star Press" focused on helping would-be authors turn their ideas into real books that are published, distributed and marketed without the hassles of traditional publishing houses and the new "self-publishing" service models.

"The idea behind 42 Rules and Super Star Press is that anyone can write a book. This model helps independent professionals establish themselves as experts in their field so they can grow their businesses. What's new here is the combination of writing, publishing and marketing. All three are necessary to make a book, and the author, successful", said  Mitchell Levy.

The author also stated: "The results I have seen in the months following the launch of the book have exceeded my expectations. My monthly billings have more than doubled and my fees have increased 25% on my "post-book" business. My next goal is to extend the success of "42 Rules of Marketing" to forthcoming titles including, social networking, working moms, cold calling executives, and teaching."

Laura Lowell is the founder and principal of Impact Marketing Group, a boutique high-tech marketing consulting firm in Silicon Valley. Lowell has held senior level marketing positions with HP, Intel and IBM, and holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business. She lives in Los Gatos, California with her husband, their two daughters, and their dog.
