Wine drinkers can now enrich their knowledge on wine by visiting a new video blog entitled WineRendezVous. French sommelier Olivier Magny, aged 27, has videos posted every week. The wine lover public can thus learn more about specific grapes, specific countries, specific regions, or specific appellations.
No subscription or fees are required in order to join and watch these wine classes on www.WineRendezVous.com . The site is totally free and a wonder in the world of wine, as there has been no previous attempt to create such a site.
Olivier Magny has become very successful in his business, opening his own Wine Tasting Company in Paris, France, when he was just 24. Frommer’s Travel Guides have called Olivier's wine tasting classes “Wonderful”, The Guardian stated they were a “brilliant experience”, while Paris Made Easy considered them “fun, informative and relaxing”.
Olivier has been invited on many TV shows in France and on the BBC. Due to his fun and original personality, Olivier has been frequently called ‘the Jamie Oliver of wine’, Jamie Oliver being a famous UK cook.
The helpful information provided on Wine Rendez-Vous comes with a touch of Olivier's personality. Olivier stated: “Wine Snobs high jacked the world of wine… Wine Rendez Vous is my response to them. Drinking wine is fun but learning can be quite dull. I’m trying to make it somewhat entertaining”.
Olivier shoots the majority of his videos in his loft in Paris. The viewers can even enjoy the amazing experience of being taken to the actual wine regions to meet wine makers and show people around.
Olivier said: “Many people have no clue that Saint-Emilion is actually a village… so when I talk about Saint Emilion wines, I want people to see Saint Emilion, it’s the best way to remember things”.
It doesn't matter if you have been a wine lover for a long time or if you were just caught by this new passion. WineRendezVous brings a lesson to everyone, from veterans to beginners. Olivier commented: “I want everybody to feel comfortable and to learn new things when watching these videos”.
The idea of starting this video blog came at the end of one class. “I wanted to keep teaching this group. Two hours were great to give them an overview and a better understanding; they got the big picture, but I wanted to go deeper. The best way to do this was by shooting video classes… so people can continue their wine education”, Olivier said.
WineRendezVous is a small revolution in the world of wine. You can have a taste of Olivier's professional classes even if you're not in Paris, with the help if this blog.
