Acutrack, Inc. Is Highly Satisfied With DVD CCA's Authorization of Copy Protection for DVDs
Acutrack, Inc., which is considered one of the leaders On Demand CD and DVD production, applauded the recent announcement by the DVD Copy Control Association (DVDCCA) to approve a final copy-protection specification for on-demand disc burning. Final approval of the copy-protection specification was authorized by DVD CCA members on September 19, 2007. The DVD CCA is an industry copy prevention organization, and this approval signifies an authorization for companies to sell digital downloads for on demand viewing.
Consumers will be permitted to legally record content at home including movies offered by the content owners. The ruling also allows consumers to download the content and burn it to a physical DVD, so movies bought over the Internet can now be burned onto a DVD. This authorization could dramatically change the way movies are sold.
The new application is known under the name of Content Scramble System (CSS), a copy protection program used on most commercially produced DVD. CSS was devised for this purpose to prevent copy infringement. The process has to use special blank DVD discs with CSS encryption. All the copies will compatible with all kind of DVD players.
Standard DVD players are hardwired with the necessary keys for unlocking the digital security system built into pre-recorded DVDs, but DVD burners on computers and writeable DVD discs don't contain the locks. The DVD CCA is responsible for obtaining all parties agreement to standards allowing the digital locks to be included in a downloaded movie file and then transferred to a protected DVD to work on current players.
Raj Barman, president and chief executive officer of Acutrack, Inc. declares related to this: "Interestingly, nobody thought about the fact that some day there would be something called the Internet where people could download content back when DVDs were invented twenty years ago,"
"The problem is that consumers still need a fast Internet connection, a DVD burner and DVD discs, plus they would have to hand write the title onto the disk. Acutrack's On Demand model is a perfect solution, allowing distributors to offer consumers a physical DVD without worrying about anything, he added."
Acutrack's On Demand engine is able to download content from a distributor's site and produce a physical DVD with a professional retail printing, then package and send it whenever the consumer requests a physical DVD. This gives customers the possibility to produce and ship custom packaged CDs or DVDs one at a time. Ideal for customers who sell downloadable content, On Demand Production permits manufacturing of CDs and DVDs on an as needed basis, eliminating the up-front costs of producing multiple titles normally associated with CD/DVD production.
Acutrack give customers the possibility to create, publish and deliver custom content for DVD and CD distribution worldwide. The company offers fast, high-quality CD and DVD production including video editing, DVD authoring, graphic design, photo realistic and silkscreen printing, and different packaging, copy protection and fulfillment services.
