Version 5.5 of NoteTab has been released by Fookes Software. Text editor NoteTab's business features are thus extended for Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/2003/XP/Vista. Full support is now provided by all versions of NoteTab for multi-user and networked environments. In addition, they have proven compatibility with Windows Vista.

Three versions of NoteTab already exist. These are Light, Standard and Pro. NoteTab Light is a freeware version, and remains free even when used in a business context. Additional features are provided by the Standard and Pro versions, including a thesaurus, multilingual spell checker, text-outline file editing, customizable keyboard shortcuts, and the creation of toolbar buttons to execute custom scripts and wizards. Advanced users will be very happy with NoteTab Pro, as it provides multi-level undo and redo commands, accelerated text processing, and highlighted URLs and HTML tags. Five SIAF People's Choice awards and three Shareware Industry Awards have been won by NoteTab since 1998.

Several files can be opened at the same time with all versions of NoteTab, due to their tabbed interface. In addition, 90 commands are included in the toolbar that can be totally configured. All open documents or folders can be processed through search and replace functions. In addition, you can automatically paste the text copied from other applications to the Windows Clipboard in any NoteTab document that you choose. Moreover, an individual scripting language is used by NoteTab, allowing to create custom text-processing tools. A large number of ready-made scripts are already included, with many more available in an on-line repository from other NoteTab users. Examples of included scripts include measurement and currency conversion, calculation of mortgage rates and the future value of deposits, stripping HTML tags from files, and encrypted password storage.
