Speech I/O (recognition and prompts) will be included by Sensory, Inc. and Foxlink Group in Bluetooth products as a Voice User Interface (VUI). The Bluetooth headset will be the main preoccupation of the two companies in order to create, mono and stereo headsets and hands-free car kit products. The purpose is to obtain complete speech control and safety for these devices, especially to ensure safe driving for those who use them.
Bluetooth headset companies that intend to use VUI will be provided with faster marketing strategies by this collaboration between Foxlink and Sensory, according to them. Buttons are usually used for control on these headsets, but their small design only allows the presence of a few buttons. Different functions can be accessed in function of timing and order, but users find it difficult to use the buttons while wearing the headset. They forget how much time they need to hold it down in order to perform a command or another. Voice control does not even begin to compare to this “rudimentary” method of controlling the headset. Instead of using beeps or light flashes, VUI prefers a pleasant voice that confirms the command. Bluetooth products thus prove to be safer for drivers, as they don't have to take their eyes off the road or their hands off the wheel when answering a call.
Mr. James Lee, Foxlink Group’s US Operation President, stated: “Our customers want improved user experiences for their headset products. With Sensory’s voice recognition and speech output technologies we can add more features, while making the products easier to use. This is needed for continued market growth.”
Todd Mozer, Sensory’s President and CEO, said: “We are delighted to have Foxlink as a manufacturing partner. This will make it easier for headset companies to get to market fast with a high quality, low cost Bluetooth headset that uses a voice user interface.”
