Cisco and Digium Gateways Supported by Unison  » read source
Allowing any SMB to deploy unified communications at minimal cost by keeping its existing phone lines and numbers, the world's first free enterprise software, Unison™ unified communications, now supports Cisco and Digium SIP gateways. Unison's compatibility with popular gateways gives companies the ability to keep their traditional 'POTS' telephone lines if they do not wish to switch to VoIP for external telephone calls as well as minimizing expenses due to major IT changes.

Cisco and Digium, among the most popular hardware gateways, connect traditional telephone lines to an IP-PBX, such as the one built into Unison Server. Businesses can keep their existing infrastructure - while still giving their staff the powerful features of Unison, such as click-to-call, voicemail-to-e-mail, and real-time call recording by deploying one of these gateways.

CTO of Unison Technologies, Igor Balk, stated: "Extending Unison to traditional telephone lines as well as IP telephony will further broaden the appeal of our free unified communications platform." He continued: "For the relatively low cost of a Cisco or Digium hardware gateway, any small or mid-sized business can now keep their existing lines, while at the same time upgrading to Unison unified communications. It is a great way to move beyond legacy systems such as a proprietary, standalone PBX."

Because Unison integrates a powerful IP-PBX system into Unison Server, it can power not only e-mail, instant messaging, and real-time presence (free/busy status), but also telephony. Unison is a complete replacement for both PBX systems, instant messaging services and legacy e-mail servers like Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino with connectivity to IP telephones, desktop softphones and mobile devices. ...
