Performance Technologies announced that Elephant Talk, an international telecom and multimedia content distributor, has put into service the company's SEGway STP Signalling solution to deliver advanced mobile service offerings such as SMS-based chat, mobile games, and mobile e-commerce services to its customers. Performance Technologies’ family of cost-effective, carrier-class SEGway STPs paves the way for service providers to finally take charge of their SS7 networks and gain competitive advantages as they look to grow their networks and roll out new value-add services.

"Performance Technologies' SEGway STP Signalling solution provides us with the best in class suite of features, flexibility, and the throughput capacity we were looking for, to enable us to expand into the mobile market with full control over our network," said Martin Zuurbier, COO and CTO of Elephant Talk. "Coupled with our existing interconnection agreements, distribution network, and brand recognition, we are able to offer our customers very cost competitive, value-added services to the European and China markets."

SEGway STPs support any-to-any connectivity (SS7, IP-SIGTRAN, ATM) for maximum flexibility
and protect a service provider’s investment by integrating existing and future nodes and applications to meet evolving telecommunication infrastructure requirements. Performance Technologies' SEGway SS7 Signalling Solutions are robust, scalable, and highly flexible next-generation signalling solutions including STPs, Signalling Gateways, and IP-Edges that offer full routing, address translation, and screening, along with a complete set of network interfaces including traditional TDM, SIGTRAN IP, and SIP that equips a service provider with any-to-any connectivity across all interfaces.

"We are very pleased to be chosen by Elephant Talk as the core signalling solution for their new network,"
commented Cory Grant, vice president of international sales for Performance Technologies. "Their decision to utilize our advanced signalling solutions, to expand their international network, clearly shows the strength of Performance Technologies as the market leader in delivering the most cost-effective, feature rich, and highly scaleable signalling platforms and solutions available on the market today. The EMEA region is a key market for us, and we are very excited to add a dynamic company like Elephant Talk to our rapidly growing base of customers in Europe."

The growth in wireline AIN services, wireless networks and IP-based solutions such as SMS text messaging
is putting pressure on network managers to find forward-looking solutions that meet today's SS7 traffic requirements. A SEGway solution can help reduce or eliminate costly STP access and port charges, save on long haul charges for standard dedicated SS7 circuits and transition a carrier to effectively deploy an all-IP architecture. SEGway products utilize the Internet Engineering Task Force Signaling Transport (IETF SIGTRAN) group's Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) to ensure that SS7 messages are transported and routed as efficiently and reliably over IP networks as they are over the traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN). All SEGway systems can be customized to allow for seamless interoperability across networks worldwide.
