Unlimi-Tech Software announced that FileCatalyst, its industry accelerated file transfer suite, is now being used by Broadcast Microwave Services Inc. to increase file transfer speed across its TCII Media Router, which is embedded in ENG vans around the world.
Featuring patent-pending acceleration technology with less than 1% overhead, on-the-fly compression and byte-level incremental transfers, FileCatalyst is able to overcome the bottlenecks imposed on traditional file transfer methods. It is able to achieve the optimal data transfer rate regardless of network impairments.
A 3G broadband wireless modem is used as the return channel while also providing a low speed constant network connection, regardless of the availability of the microwave link. The BMS TCII Media Router, when paired with the BMS Truck-Coder II, provides high speed IP communications over a uni-directional microwave radio link. The Media Router allows for file transfers using traditional methods such as FTP. However, with FTP, high round trip times, and packet loss due to interference can cause transfer to run slowly, and fail frequently.
BMS has developed a product line for the transmission of video for electronic news gathering capabilities in mobile vans, fixed wing and helicopter aircraft, and portable applications. Extensive capability has also been developed for law enforcement applications, and also for unmanned vehicle, video, data & control transmission for advance ground and aerial surveillance.

FileCatalyst is a software-based solution designed to accelerate and optimize file transfers across global networks. It is designed to transparently plug in to any file based workflow. It is immune to the effects that latency and packet loss have on traditional file transfer methods like FTP, HTTP or CIFS.
