Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. will showcase its new 26-port 10Gbps Ethernet switch IC at the HP Technology Forum and Expo 2008 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas June 16-19. Ethernet continues to grow as the most ubiquitous form of interconnect between PC, Servers, within Servers, Metro Access and in the Storage Area Networks. The 10G Ethernet technology has been limited by the cost of interconnects at a time when both telecommunications and IT spending has remained stagnant.
Two IEEE standards that will bring the cost of 10Gbps Ethernet interconnects down, and revolutionize connectivity in both the IT and Broadband market is the 10Gbps Ethernet over copper cable (CX-4), and the 10Gbps over twisted pair (10G-BaseT). Fujitsu is now offering 10Gbps Ethernet and Ethernet Products to serve in various segments.
Fujitsu’s new Multi-rate 10GbE, high-density switch chip embeds 26 high-bandwidth, full-duplex 10Gbps ports into a single, integrated, small-footprint package. Each port has the flexibility to support KR, XAUI, CX-4 or SGMII. The use of adaptive equalization on each port can increase reach for XAUI, CX-4 and 10Gbps serial applications as well as eliminate the need for external re-timer circuits, reducing board space, power consumption and cost.
The new MB86C69RBC, which will be shown at booth 843, is the industry's first non-blocking, fully integrated 26-port 10G Ethernet (10GbE) chip. The switch IC is also the only integrated 10GbE chip to offer KR-compliant 10G serial PHY on every port in a low profile package. The Fujitsu switch offers a total of 520+Gbps non-blocking L2/L3 switching capacity while consuming less than 1W per active port. This integrated low-profile, high-density, low-power and low-latency 10GbE switching solution is ideal for the next-generation backplane and interconnect applications seen in high-performance computing and blade server applications.
