Futronic Technology Company Limited announced that its new FS88 USB2.0 Fingerprint Scanner was certified by FBI to be compliant with PIV-071006 Image Quality Specification for Singer Finger Reader. FS88 uses advanced CMOS sensor technology and precise optical system to meet the rigorous requirement on fingerprint image quality of PIV-071006. Its fingerprint scanning window is crown glass with a thickness of 14mm that resists scratches and other stress to ensure long term heavy duty usage. It is a robust but cost effective single finger capture device and ideal for border control, identity card, driver license, election and any type of civilian AFIS application.

This means that FS88 meets the US Federal Information Processing Standard 201 for Personal Identification Verification
of Federal Employees and Contractors. The FIPS 201 was developed by National Institute of Standards and Technology in response to Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12. With Futronic proprietary advanced CMOS sensor technology and precise optical system, FS88 meets rigorous requirements on fingerprint image quality of PIV-071006. Its finger scanning window is crown glass with a thickness of 14mm that resists scratches and other stress to ensure long term heavy duty usage.

It is for improving the identification and authentication of Federal employees and contractors for access to Federal facilities
and information systems. After FBI certification, FS88 is listed in the US General Services Administration (GSA) FIPS 201 Evaluation Program Approved Product List. It provides a cost effective solution for border control, identity card, driver license, voter registration and any type of civilian AFIS applications that need superior finger image quality for accurate authentication.

"We are pleased that FS88 passes PIV-071006 certification. It is an affirmation of our long term dedication
to product development. We have been successful in consumer and commercial biometric market. With this FBI certification, we are now ready to provide our biometric solutions to government initiated public identity management projects. This brings greater value to our partners and customers worldwide," commented YM Jiang, Futronic's Vice President of Marketing stated,

FS88 is ready to work on popular operating systems as well as handheld devices
because Futronic provides Application Programming Interface (API) for FS88 to capture fingerprint image on Windows 2000/XP, Vista 32/64 bit, Windows CE 5.0/6.0 and Linux with kernel 2.4 or after. After fingerprint image is captured, it can be processed, transferred, stored and/or matched with pre- stored data by any backend software that makes project implementation very flexible.
