With its growing awareness and use, Bluetooth technology is slowly gaining ground in the automotive market. The reason for the emergence of this short-range technology as a consumer-demanded feature, is wider application of bluetooth enabled devices such as headsets, cellular handsets and car kits. Including Nokia, Parrot, Sony Ericsson, and Motorola, several vendors are offering bluetooth enabled after-market car kits suiting almost any model or make of car. One of the key factors promoting growth in the global bluetooth enabled devices market is implementation of hands-free driving legislation in many countries. Mobile phones represent the primary application area of the bluetooth technology.

Rapidly increasing demand for bluetooth-enabled cellular handsets is playing a major role in intensifying bluetooth's magnetism. Other bluetooth enabled devices gaining popularity include automobiles, digital cameras, music players, stereo headsets and notebook and desktop PCs.
As stated in a recent report published by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., Bluetooth enabled handset sales worldwide are projected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of approximately 7.68% over the years 2011 through 2015. Technological advancements coupled with growing need for sophisticated and stylish devices that blend well with contemporary lifestyles are driving market growth in this category. Further, ubiquitous presence of mobile phones and enactment of driving laws in Europe and North America, which ban the use of mobile phones while driving, are helping spur demand for bluetooth enabled headsets. Bluetooth enabled PC market in Asia-Pacific is forecast to reach 69.01 million units by the year 2012.

Major players operating in the industry include - AT & T Inc., Apple Inc, BLUETAKE Technology Co. Ltd, Bluegiga Technologies, Broadcom Corporation, Cambridge Silicon Radio Plc, CellPoint Connect AB, D-Link Corporation, Dell Inc, Ezurio Ltd, Flaircomm Technologies Inc, Fujitsu Siemens Computers (Holding) BV, GN US Inc.,GN Netcom AS,  Hewlett-Packard Development Company L.P, IVT Corporation, Infineon Technologies AG, Intel Corporation, Kyocera Corporation, Logitech International SA, Lenovo, L.G.Electronics Inc and Verizon Wireless, among numerous others.
