Dr. Lionel Bissoon has created a new surprising term describing a kind of cellulite that makes its appearance only during certain activities. This has been called "Celebrity cellulite or functional cellulite", a term dreated to distinguish between the typical medically certified term of “cellulite” and a type of cellulite that is different from that described by medical definitions.
Such an example of “celebrity cellulite” would be that attributed to some celebrities such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, who has been photographed in all kinds of publications and on the Internet. The photos indicate some form of cellulite, but it is not the medically correct form of cellulite.
The author of "The Cellulite Cure", Dr. Lionel Bissoon, claims that the cellulite of these celebrities, including Jennifer Love Hewitt, is fake and it is called functional or celebrity cellulite, because it only appears when a person walks, bends, twist or sits with their legs crossed, for example.
Dr. Bissoon stated: "Once women revert to a straight standing position the cellulite, like an illusion, disappears. There were no photographs of Jennifer standing in a straight erect position with legs together."
This illusion is created by paparazzi, who have been hunting celebrities on the beaches in order to take photographs and sell them to the tabloids. The photographs showing Jennifer Love Hewitt dressed in her bikini make her look like she has cellulite on her thighs and soft legs.
Still, the cellulite-specialized Dr. Lionel Bissoon believes this photos show cellulite that is not real. He said: "This is more of an illusion. The photographs published do not show true cellulite, instead she is engaged in various activities. These activities can create the appearance of cellulite when there is none or little."
According to the medical definition of cellulite, lumps, bumps and dimples are considered as signs of cellulite, but only in standing position. The photographs of celebrities taken by the paparazzis never show these women in standing position. They are either walking, twisting or turning. Dr. Bissoon said: "One leg appears to have cellulite because the muscles are contracting during movement -- while the other leg does not. That doesn't mean the woman actually has cellulite."
Photographs of Britney Spears are another example given by the doctor. The picture showing Britney walking shows that she has dimples on one of her buttocks, while on the other one she doesn't. The doctor doesn't want to be misunderstood, because his statements don't mean that celebrities cannot have cellulite. He only wants readers to be more aware of what's going on and don't believe in anything they see on paper.
Dr. Bissoon said: “Ninety percent of American women suffer from cellulite. Mesotherapy is the only medical cure for cellulite including celebrity or functional cellulite. Mesotherapy can dramatically reduce or eliminate the problem. It's a safe bet that many celebrities have received -- or will soon seek -- treatment to get rid of those unsightly cottage cheese thighs, dimples and celebrity cellulite.”
