Penguin Computing, an Intel Premier Partner, today announced support for the Dual Core Intel Xeon Processor 5200 series and Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5400 series in its Linux-based Penguin Relion servers. The Penguin Relion 1650 and 2650 servers provide management and serviceability features to support large HPC clusters and mission critical enterprise applications.

The new Penguin Relion models, which deliver significantly enhanced performance and efficiency,
will be available for delivery in December 2007. Penguin Relion and all other Penguin Computing servers support free and commercial versions of the Linux operating system. The Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5200 series and Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5400 series are the first x86 architecture quad core processors utilizing the latest 45 nanometer semiconductor technology.

Penguin Relion servers are designed primarily for high performance computing and enterprise customers.
The new Relion model lineup based on Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5200 series and Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5400 series and Intel core logic chipset includes high density one-rack unit and highly expandable two-rack unit models.

Intel's pioneering process technology enables processor execution engines to operate at higher clock frequency.
Combined with Intel core logic chipsets new processors provide also higher I/O bandwidth. Common uses are traditional HPC applications such as complex simulations, bioinformatics, financial analytics, seismic analysis and reservoir modeling, financial market modeling, computational fluid dynamics and high fidelity finite element modeling. Learn how customers in different industries have worked with Penguin to accelerate their research and development.

Charles Wuischpard, president of Field Operations at Penguin Computing noted:
"At Penguin Computing our goal is to always bring the very latest technology to our HPC and enterprise customers. Penguin customers typically need all computational capacity available, and latest Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5200 series and Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5400 series deliver substantially more performance than other Intel/Linux platforms previously available.”
