JDSU announced that its WaveReady 3000 series has been verified by Brocade Communications Systems Inc. as compatible with Brocade-based Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructures according to the testing requirements of the Brocade Data Center Ready Program.

The program is an initiative designed to foster interoperability in multi-vendor Brocade-based data center environments
. Testing of the WaveReady Transport System was conducted at the Brocade Data Center Ready labs, state-of-the-art facilities supporting end-to-end interoperability and performance testing of SAN products in multi-vendor and large fabric environments. The Brocade Data Center Ready Program was launched in 2000.

According to Tom Buiocchi, Brocade Vice President of Worldwide Marketing,
"We are pleased that JDSU has successfully completed the Data Center Ready testing with Brocade fabric switches in multi-vendor SAN environments. Storage area networks are being deployed worldwide at a rapid rate as a scalable, high performance networking foundation for storage environments. The Data Center Ready program is an example of our continued commitment to our customers."

WaveReady is a complete family of products for regional, metro and access optical transport networks.
These low cost and easy to operate bit-rate and protocol independent modules, software, and shelves can be configured to deliver carrier class and enterprise-friendly solutions. WaveReady delivers optical transport solutions for LAN and SAN extension, Gigabit Ethernet, SONET, data and video-a good tool to help Triple Play deployments. The WaveReady solutions are ideal for complementing existing SONET based networks being challenged to add new services such as DSL expansion, Video and VOIP and provide a cost effective solution to adding new fiber to a network.

"JDSU WaveReady products offer optical network operators easy-to-deploy, high value products for networks,
including SANs, that enable the quick delivery of reliable services. We are pleased to have our solution verified by Brocade, an industry leader in cutting-edge data networking solutions," stated Michael McCallen, JDSU director and WaveReady business unit manager.

The WaveReady product line offers a flexible WDM transport solution that can extend the reach of SANs.
WaveReady multirate transponders support FC100 (1.0625 Gbps), FC200 (2.125 Gbps), FC400 (4.25 Gbps), and 10GFC (10.518 Gbps) Fibre Channel interfaces and, combined with amplifiers, extend the reach of SAN services to over 175 Km. WaveReady offers a simple and reliable transport solution for data center connectivity, remote back-up and disaster and recovery network deployments.

Facility and per-wavelength protection can be easily built into existing networks with WaveReady network ready subsystems.
Network troubleshooting and service delineation are achieved through WaveReady solutions for optical demarcation and wavelength service simplification. The unique portfolio of WaveReady Network Ready Subsystems allows providers to enable bandwidth aggregation and design hybrid DWDM/CWDM optical networks. The WaveReady family is easy to manage through SNMP and TL1 compatible communication modules as well as JDSU Node Manager software.
