Key Cell Phone Patent Licensed to LG Electronics » read source
A leading patent licensing and enforcement firm, General Patent Corporation International (GPCI), today on behalf of Digital Technology Licensing LLC (DTL), its client, that it has licensed a key cell phone patent to LG Electronics, Inc.
U.S. Patent No. 5,051,799 titled “Digital Output Transducer” (Patent), which is an essential patent for Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) codec and other cellular communication standards is owned by DTL. The patented technology is also used to assure backward compatibility of cell phone handsets and base stations. Bluetooth headsets is one of other applications of the patented technology.
GPCI’s Chairman and CEO, Alexander Poltorak, said: “We were very pleased to grant a non-exclusive license to LG”.
GPCI represents DTL in the licensing and enforcement of the Patent. DTL brought patent infringement suits against T-Mobile, Cingular Wireless (now know as AT&T Mobility), Verizon Wireless, Sprint and other companies, while LG was not a party to any of these lawsuits. DTL announced, previously, that Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung had licensed its Patent, and that the law suits against Cingular Wireless and AT&T Mobility had been settled with AT&T Mobility taking a license under the Patent.
DTL is managed by GPCI and is a portfolio company of IP Holdings LLC. A non-exclusive license under the patent is available on reasonable and non-discriminatory terms. ...
