The arcade video game Marble Sheep has been announced by ackBytes. The game can be downloaded at http://www.marblesheep.com/ .
The game is about a little sheep originally called "Utz Wollewutz", that the players have to control and help complete 30 levels in the style of arcade games. Various enemies attack the little sheep that is trapped inside a magic marble. Logic challenges also have to be solved by the player. The marvelously designed and especially comic game has won the first place in the Conitec Casual Game Contest, being the best out of the 30 participants in the contest.
Ulf Ackermann, the developer of the casual game, said: "Do you remember those times sitting in the sandbox playing with glass marbles? Now you´re trapped inside one of those marbles. Ready to roll!"
The game can be played by anyone, regardless of their age, as it is an amazing source of relaxation and fun. Ulf Ackermann added: "Marble Sheep was made to capture the best classic arcade gaming elements from different genres such as jump & run, racing or logic puzzle games."
The experiment seems to have paid off, as the platforms, tubes, or loopings they have to race down provide enormous fun to players. Having to overpass dangerous obstacles such as flesh-eating plants, slime monsters or scarecrows proves fun and relaxing for players. However, the fun is also limited, as players have to adapt to a a certain limit of time in order to pass to the next stage. This time limit can only be respected by p0layers if they properly use the elements that increase their power and that they find along the levels. In addition, they have to solve some physics riddles as they approach the exit.
The environment offered by Marble Sheep is highly comic and colorful, and has three themes at its basis. You can only save the little sheep and help it get out of the marble if you pass the grassy hills, snowy mountains or deep dark jungles. If you pass these stages, you'll get to the good magician "Mumpelwitz", the only one to get the ship out. In addition, you don't have to worry about seeing some horrible scenes as in other games, as this game is not violent at all. Many players can thus find it fun to play. From kids to hardcore players, they can al find the game funny and challenging. The kids will be helped to bettre control the mouse, common players can just find it relaxing after a hard day, while advanced gamers will be challenged to overpass the highest scores made by other players.
Marble Sheep is currently available for PC download (14,95 $) and runs well on older hardware, too. The free demo features 4 levels of the full version.
