The release of PopChar Win 3.4, the Windows version of its popular tool for inserting umlauts and special characters into the text of any application has been announced today by Ergonis Software.

An enhanced search feature that lets you easily find special characters by name, by Unicode number, or by example is offered by the new version. It offers an automatic update checking system, which ensures timely access to updates for future versions and adds support for Unicode 5.1. Also included in this release are a number of other improvements and fixes for user-reported issues.

Dounder and CEO of Ergonis Software, Christoph Reichenberger, stated: "If you are dealing with texts containing foreign characters you often come across characters you haven't seen before. You don't know their name, their Unicode number, and particularly you don't know how to type them on your keyboard." He adds: "Now all you have to do is to copy the characters in question and paste them into PopChar's search field. PopChar will instantly show you all the information about these characters, including how to type them on your keyboard, if at all possible."

A problem faced by every technologist and multi-lingual worker is solved by PopChar. Resulting in a steady loss of productivity, inserting special characters into application documents can be frustrating. You never need to search for and remember keystrokes any longer with PopChar. You need just to pop up the PopChar window, click the desired character, and the character appears in your current document.

Microsoft Maintenance and Malicious Tips
As reported recently by TechTarget, Inc. Microsoft has greatly beefed up their anti-malware team by hiring four of the anti-virus industry's top researchers. Microsoft earlier shook up the anti-malware industry by hiring other top talent away from competitors such as Symantec Corp. and McAfee, Inc. When files are split into hundreds or even thousands of fragments (a not-uncommon scenario today), a virus scan will of course take significantly longer having to scan each fragment of each file.

Microsoft Corp. released the next version of the Windows Live OneCare service.
