Performance Technologies, a developer of communication platforms and systems, announced two new voice processing modules. Using Centillium Communications' flagship product, the Entropia III processor, the PMC531 and PMC532 offer system design architects and engineers a flexible set of options for building blade-based solutions for voice coding applications in wireline and wireless telecommunications networks.
These new products can be used in advanced telecommunication systems where standard wireline and wireless telecommunication voice signaling transmissions converge in Voice over Internet Protocol applications. All of the above applications are completely supported under the company's powerful CGL registered, Linux operating system and development environment, NexusWare.
"We are extremely pleased that Performance Technologies chose our Entropia product in the development of these new, high-performance voice processing solutions. The most significant advantages of using Entropia-enabled Performance Technologies products are time-to-market and extreme density of voice ports in a small form factor. Our Entropia System on a Chip VoIP product, combined with Performance Technologies' expansive hardware and software offerings, provides feature-rich solutions for today's demanding, carrier network requirements," stated Didier Boivin, vice president of marketing at Centillium.
Through Performance Technologies' unique and scalable design, these low power, voice processing modules offer some of the telecommunication industry's highest port densities by managing up to 2,000 (two thousand) simultaneous VoIP ports. A number of Performance Technologies' customers are currently evaluating beta releases of the units with general availability scheduled for first quarter 2008.
Communication system architects needing advanced, compute-intensive embedded solutions can meet with Performance Technologies representatives at several upcoming events including West 2008 in San Diego, CA (February 5-7, 2008, booth 2419), GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (February 11-14, 2008, booth 2.1A01), Military & Aerospace Electronics Forum in San Diego, CA (March 11-12, 2008, booth 515), and Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley in San Jose, CA (April 15-17, 2008, booth 1445).
Performance Technologies offers a variety of standard and custom support packages to ensure customers have access to the critical resources that they need to protect and maximize hardware and software investments throughout the development, integration and deployment phases of the product lifecycle. Integrated with Performance Technologies existing CompactPCI base boards, such as the T1/E1/J1 capable CPC324 or CPC308 edge processors, or CPC300 Advanced PTMC Carrier Blade, the new PMC531 and 532 can be utilized in
applications that include:
- Media gateways
- Wireless infrastructure gateways
- Lawful interception
- Class 4 and 5 telecommunications switching sub components
