Numerex Showcases Orbit One Global-RFID Technology » read source
Numerex Corp., a single source provider of solutions and network services for machine- to-machine applications, has introduced Orbit One's Global-RFID technology platform, the first in a series of revolutionary, proprietary, active Global-RFID tags built on its new G-RFID technology platform. Orbit One's proprietary G-RFID open data architecture allows for near- instant and secure integration, and is forward and reverse compatible with virtually any legacy or next generation supply chain software.
The introduction further enhances the Orbit One Total Asset Visibility solution. Global-RFID overcomes many of the limitations and challenges of traditional RFID technology by communicating updated location and alert information directly to a constellation of low earth orbit satellites. The Orbit One Global-RFID solution will be presented at TAV 2008, the Total Asset Visibility for Defense Summit presented by the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement, (IDGA) in Alexandria, Va. The summit schedule is January 28th-30th, 2008.
The G-RFID tags measure a mere 7.25"x3.25"x1" (184x83x25mm), weigh only 13 ounces (369g), and exceed MIL STD 810, IP68 and NEMA 6P+ ratings. Tags can be attached in seconds to high value assets such as intermodal shipping containers, generators and other high value equipment, with a variety of "peel and stick" mounting options, and are capable of delivering up to seven years of uninterrupted service from a single and easily field-replaceable internal battery pack. G-RFID tags can also be mounted to vertical surfaces such as container doors.
Direct communication to satellite increases coverage footprints provided by traditional RFID tags from just feet to entire continents. Orbit One gives you the perspective needed to make informed decisions. Our satellite data solutions give real time field operative visibility to the people who need it, anywhere on the planet. Whether you need routine asset tracking or preparation for a crisis situation, we’ll marry existing technologies or invent new ones, to give you the in-the-field perspective you need to make sound decisions.
"We've strived for and achieved overwhelming success in developing an inexpensive, enhanced RFID solution for our military and commercial clients whose 'warehouses' are global in nature," states David Ronsen, President of Orbit One, Numerex's satellite solutions division. "For the first time, we're able to provide global supply chain managers true in-transit visibility of their mobile assets outside of the confines of their warehouses or facilities, giving users the ability to manage inventory on a continent by continent basis while helping to alleviate security issues, reduce demurrage and container fleet downtime, and increase operational and logistical efficiencies throughout the supply chain."
Board level G-RFID electronics are also available for integration into third party OEM applications. G-RFID tags are available in large volume, with extended warranties of up to three years, and at pricing approaching standard long life active RFID tags, another ground-breaking achievement from Orbit One. Numerex powers M2M by providing networks, technology, and fixed and mobile solutions to a variety of industries. As “The Perfect Partner” to a long list of industry leaders, we have more than a dozen years of experience in building and managing fruitful relationships with our global partners, and have earned our position as the go-to, single-source provider for end-to-end M2M.
