NXP Software is demonstrating its LifeVibes MixDJ software at the Mobile World Congress 2008. MixDJ brings a new experience to mobile phones and music players. This unique software addresses changing consumer habits as people increasingly use mobile devices as their main audio player, whether via built-in stereo speakers or linked to a separate speaker accessory. Instead of simply playing songs consecutively with pauses between them, MixDJ eliminates these gaps which people often find annoying.

The resulting continuous, seamless playback is perfect for creating a party atmosphere
. With MixDJ, a phone or MP3 can provide a non-stop beat that keeps people moving. MixDJ achieves this seamless effect by aligning the tempo and beat of the current and upcoming songs and then fading between them, just as would a professional live DJ. The software is easy to manage and once activated, the whole experience is automatic.

With its automatic professional DJ-style mixing, it can help create a party atmosphere anytime and anywhere,
and device makers can offer distinctive functionality designed to increase the appeal of music on mobile phones and players. Thanks to NXP Software's experience in optimized solutions for mobile multimedia, MixDJ targets most embedded platforms.

MixDJ can also help users create playlists suitable for mixing, and created mixes can be saved and shared with friends.
MixDJ draws on NXP Software's deep know-how in mobile multimedia, playback control and its portfolio of optimized building blocks for audio enhancement. These strengths allow NXP Software to create innovative solutions like MixDJ, and SportsDJ, adding distinctive capabilities to mobile devices. Its SportsDJ was launched at 3GSM 2007, where the live action sports demo proved a real crowd-puller.

"By enhancing listening and allowing people to always have their party music with them, our LifeVibes MixDJ
strengthens the mobile phone's position as the primary music player," commented Peter van de Berg, Marketing Director, NXP Software. "LifeVibes MixDJ is a unique feature on portable music players and music handsets, one that NXP Software is ideally placed to bring it to the market."

Digital music is part of people’s lives. Now they want to share their music between devices
– portable players, PCs, home stereos, the car; and with friends too. They want ways to easily manage growing collections, and to enjoy vibrant, exciting sound wherever they are and whatever they do. In a world full of video, people don’t just talk on mobile handsets; they use them to watch, record and share life as it happens. NXP Software has a proven track record in enabling manufacturers to bring this immediacy, creativity and fun to mobile phones.
