Olocity Implements Open Management Platform From StorageIM

Olocity Corporation is dedicated to delivering open standards based management solutions, products, and services and has acquired the StorageIM open source storage network management platform which will be integrated into its offerings. Olocity offers professional support services for its products. Working in combination with our partners, we can provide you and your organization with access to a variety of support options.

StorageIM is the first open source management console for storage networks designed with the CIM and SMI-S
industry standards as its architectural core. As a result StorageIM easily supports HBAs, arrays, switches, and tape libraries across vendors' products with a high degree of interoperability and reliability. Thanks to its standards based design, StorageIM has already successfully integrated with many vendors' storage networking products.

John Webster of Illuminata noted: "This announcement demonstrates that the dauntless work of standards bodies
like the Distributed Management Task Force and Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) as well as related open source efforts like Pegasus are paying off for IT consumers. The StorageIM vision evolves the storage management landscape enabling the storage community to more effectively deliver powerful and flexible multi-vendor solutions."

Olocity provides customization and extension of its architectures and open source products to meet special requirements
in enterprise computing environments or complex control systems. Olocity will participate in the upcoming SNIA and DMTF joint industry plugfest with new extensions and capabilities for the StorageIM product and xIM architecture.

"The StorageIM acquisition provides Olocity with a highly scalable and extensible architecture that is a foundation
for the development of future standards based products as well as enterprise class integration infrastructures and compliance testing tools," stated Kurt Krems the Architect of StorageIM. "The development philosophy behind StorageIM is to fully support the open source community and as such it is built around popular infrastructures like Struts, Quartz, and Spring. StorageIM is a nucleus for collaboration and innovation for both the IT consumers and vendors."

Companies are often drawn to support emerging industry standards like SMI-S and CIM/WBEM
then discover that unique extensions need be applied to these standards to fully support their products and architectures (fortunately, these modern standards are designed to support vendor-specific extensions). The principles at Olocity have an extensive track record of success delivering content to modern management standards (as well as related conformance tests). Olocity is available to assist in creating added content for modern standards and assisting in driving that content into standards.
