A partnership with the leading provider of enterprise-class products and services based on PostgreSQL databases, EnterpriseDB, has been announced today by the leader in cloud computing management, RightScale, Inc. For extremely scalable, high performance database applications for Amazon Web Services customers, the partnership will allow RightScale to integrate EnterpriseDB Postgres Plus and Postgres Plus Advanced Server database templates with its cloud management platform.
RightScale is also a new partner in EnterpriseDB's Blade Program. The term "blade" is given to a partner's technology solution that is complementary or integrated with Postgres Plus using open standards and open APIs along with standard ODBC and JDBC connections. The announcement was made today at the OSCON 2008 Conference on open source computing. By Q4 2008, the RightScale templates for Postgres Plus and Postgres Plus Advanced Server will be available.
Co-founder and executive vice president, business development, for EnterpriseDB, Andy Astor, stated:
"Our Blade Program is off to a tremendous start, and we are excited to have a company like RightScale joining us with such a strong presence in the cloud computing management space." He added: "Customers will have a tremendously powerful cloud computing solution, from the database all the way through the web management and services components."
Deploying scalable, reliable applications from scratch in the cloud is a time consuming and expensive task. Most organizations, as a result, do not have the expertise or resources to deploy and manage cloud computing applications cost effectively and according to best practices. Any organization can easily tap the enormous power of Amazon's cloud for a virtually infinite, affordable, "pay-as-you-go" IT infrastructure with RightScale's platform. RightScale's offerings provide rapid deployment, a dynamically scalable infrastructure to meet varying traffic and loads, and require minimal resources using automated tools and a centralized web dashboard for easy management backed by best practices and professional services.
