PasswordVault v6.1, a simple and practical enterprise-level password manager for MacOS X, Windows and Linux is now shipped by Lava Software. This new version offers instant search abilities, makes it easy to add new entries by dropping a web address onto a dropbox on the main window, includes single user and multi-user password and web bookmark management and synchronization over LAN and Internet, easy data backup, compatibility to all web browsers on all platforms, automatic backup before manual imports, easy printing of online synchronization information (for setting up online sync on other computers), and various enhancements and optimizations. Desktop and portable USB stick versions are available. It is a free upgrade for all users.
Standard features in PasswordVault include very strong 896-bit Blowfish encryption, auto-filling of Web forms (two-click logins), online synchronization (with an additional layer of 128-bit AES encryption, for a total of 1024-bit encryption strength), a unique Master Password Recovery System (MPRS), auto-lock timer with clipboard clear, random password generator, masked passwords, very powerful import and export functions (for easy backup and transfer), transparent global floating window, editable notes, user defined service categories, selectable skins, detailed reports after portable/desktop sync, and enhanced support for use in large organizations. Bbundled free with the desktop version, the portable version runs directly off USB flash drives and iPods, providing users with secure access to their data when they're on the road, as well as the convenience of auto-synchronization when they return to their desktop computer.
Including secure auto-distribution (via shared network drives on LANs or via Web server URLs), secure multi-user password synchronization, and logging of auto-exports and auto-import service changes, the Professional Edition offers additional features for password management and control within organizations. It provides a simple but powerful cross-platform enterprise-level password management solution for companies, schools, universities and other organizations. The auto-distribution system is very flexible. For example, it can ensure a group of normal users always have the latest passwords managed by a privileged user, it can keep passwords in selected categories synchronized between a group of users, or it can synchronize privileged users and propagate changes to normal users.
