PECO II, Inc. announced the introduction of the Quantum Power System, a small power platform designed to meet demanding power requirements for the fast-growing outside plant broadband market. Delta's switching power supplies provide power ranging up to 7,200W+ per power module, with efficiency of over 90% and power density of up to 25W/inch3. These products are modular, redundant, hot swappable, and provide universal input power systems for high reliability. Delta offers custom design and high volume manufacturing capability of power supplies for PCs, servers, workstations, networking, peripherals and office equipment.
PECO II's design of the new Quantum system is a major development from a strategic relationship between the Company and The Delta Group, the provider of switching power supplies and a major source for power management components. Quantum combines PECO II's system design expertise, application knowledge, and understanding of customer and feature requirements with advanced power conversion technology, module innovation and controller design from Delta. The Quantum platform is a 48-volt DC power system that combines high-density rectifiers, distribution and control in a sleek, low-profile shelf for optimized value to telecom carriers deploying fiber-to-the-node and traditional wireline architectures.
Kevin Borders, vice president of marketing and product development for PECO II, stated, "The Quantum system provides carriers a new choice for broadband power deployment. Within it, we have combined world-class power conversion technology with application-specific distribution and advanced user-friendly controls to enhance power deployment in new or existing networks. The introduction of Quantum is a major milestone for PECO II as we enter the growing small power market."
Designed for the harsh outside plant environment, the Quantum system's small footprint makes it ideal for cabinets where rack space is at a premium. The Quantum Power System optimizes the user experience with a unique system controller that offers rapid input/output and PECO II's innovative QuickLoad system configuration capability. The controller features a technician-friendly input control device and a display that can easily be read in difficult outdoor conditions. The rectifiers include PECO II's unique I-View faceplate indicators that report rectifier current and load-sharing status.
"We are very excited to witness the results of the collaborative work of both Delta and PECO II. We look forward to the Quantum solution becoming a product of choice in the outside plant broadband market," according to Herman Chang, general manager of Delta's Networking & Telecom Power Business Unit.
Delta steadily increases the efficiency of power supply products and has introduced products with energy-saving features such as electronic ballasts, AC motor drives, renewable energy inverters, and fuel cell components. The 97.5% efficiency of Delta's photovoltaic inverters, for example, is the highest achieved in its class so far. To promote energy-saving lighting, Delta develops and produces electronic ballasts for light sources including fluorescent lamps, metal halide lamps and LEDs.
