Microsoft And IBM To Bring Pre-Installed Windows Retail Systems For Hospitality Industries
 Microsoft Corp. announced that it is working with IBM Corp. to deliver a powerful Windows Embedded-based plug-and-play solution to help make it faster and easier for retailers and hospitality organizations to deliver information and services to time-conscious, empowered consumers. According to the two companies, Microsoft's Windows Embedded for Point of Service operating system will come pre-loaded on IBM point-of-sale, self- checkout and self-service kiosks offerings.

PEER 1 Partners Microsoft To Bring Free Sandbox Servers For Developers
 PEER 1 Network Enterprises, Inc. has partnered with Microsoft to offer 50 free developer sandbox servers for a 30-day trial. Web developers now have a chance to work with full control on a collection of Microsoft website development applications in a dedicated server environment. Microsoft and PEER 1 invite developers to apply to participate in the sandbox. Once approved developers gain free root access to a server set up in PEER 1's San Antonio data center for 30 days with no contract and no obligation.

Multi-PC Environment Simplified In Windows Live OneCare
 With more than one-third of U.S. adults now owning more than one home computer, households have an increasing need to simplify the way they secure and care for all their PCs. Microsoft Corp. released the next version of the Windows Live OneCare service. Consumers understand they need to take care of their PCs and home network, but they have limited awareness of the required tasks. According to a recent survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Microsoft, 50 percent of adults who have a home computer and wireless network are concerned about the security of their home wireless network, and only 24 percent of adults who have a home computer have backed up the digital photos stored on their computer within the past month.

Altair PBS Professional Management Solution On Microsoft's Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003
 Altair announced the seamless integration of Altair's PBS Professional workload management solution and Microsoft's Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 , a high-performance computing platform for Windows. PBS Professional is part of Altair's PBS GridWorks suite of on-demand computing solutions. This interoperability project is based on both companies commitment to support the Open Grid Forum's HPC Basic Profile. The HPC Basic Profile specification is a proposed recommendation from the Open Grid Forum to enable interoperability for job submission and job management between disparate workload management solutions.
