I was always certain that nothing bad can happen to my HDD and I cannot lose my data, plus I always copy everything on DVDs. A few months ago the worst happened. Somehow I deleted the partition that contained my personal data including photos and most of my work. I thought I was gonna die. How on earth didn't I think about this scenario? My friend happens to work with software products and so he told me about backup software. I thought it was a waste of Hard-disk space, but when I lost all my data I decided to try out a backup application. So I started searching the net for various programs but none of them satisfied my needs. Some of them were expensive, others didn't cope with what I wanted. Then this friend of mine suggested GFI backup. Finally I agreed and installed the app. Wow! It was so easy to install it. I practically didn't do much, just set some paths and that was it. Then when I created my first task I followed a step-by-step process, also very intuitive.
After all this was done, I started the backup task. Well, that took a bit long, but maybe it seemed long because it was a new experience for me. I wasn't used to backup my stuff. Considering I had many GBs of data, now I think it all went pretty fast.
The best thing about all this, isn't the fact that I backed up my data after I lost everything. No. It's the fact that I prevented another session of hysteria, when the electricity crashed and so did my HDD. Thankfully I had all my files on an external drive.
