Starting Today Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ Processor-based Platforms Are Available

AMD announced today, among its channel partners, availability and widespread shipping of Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processor-based server systems. Addressing customer demand for the business-focused advantages of systems based on Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors, ten AMD Validated Server Program platforms are also available and shipping today. These systems all deliver the benefits of AMD Direct Connect Architecture – performance, energy efficiency, scalability, and virtualization performance.

Corporate vice president and general manager, Server and Workstation Division, AMD, Randy Allen, said: “Our channel partners uniformly display strong commitment to their customers’ business requirements and are among the first to deliver the technical innovation that Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors add to each of their distinctive product lines”. “Channel offerings today are very high-performance, customized solutions, but across the board, the benefits of Direct Connect Architecture help these systems deliver efficiency with consolidation options and power management.
