Creators of the popular SugarSync service that combines secure online backup, remote access, mobile synchronization, and online file sharing into one simple solution, Sharpcast, was selected as the Top Innovator in the category of Most Innovative Consumer Application or Service, and a Global Semi-Finalist in the Americas leg of the 2009 Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition. The competition took place last week at the GSMA's Mobile Innovation Marketplace - Americas, in Atlanta, GA, a precursor to the wireless industry's most important annual event, next February's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Consisting of strategists for wireless operators worldwide, venture capitalists and other mobile industry experts, a panel of nine judges chose SugarSync as the best solution for solving a fundamental need for mobile customers: having seamless access to all the content stored on their computers from a mobile phone and wirelessly synchronizing changes made on a mobile phone to their computers.

SugarSync, in addition to the GSMA Global Semi-Finalist award, has won several accolades throughout the industry recognizing it as the new standards-bearer in the emerging category of synchronized backup and remote access products. CNET ranked SugarSync, in the last few weeks, with a five-star review and dubbed it the "most useful sync tool ever," Laptop Magazine gave it both its Editor's Choice and Ultimate Choice awards, saying SugarSync "changed the way we look at online backup...this is online storage done right," while PC Magazine awarded it four stars.

The Wall Street Journal, additionally, called SugarSync "the best method yet for replicating files," a review in Business Week said "SugarSync simply does better than anything I've seen," The Financial Times called SugarSync "a dream to use," and The New York Times called it an "impressive piece of work".

SugarSync is the first-ever solution that extends wireless "push" synchronization beyond the confines of enterprise email to all consumers, and the data types they care about like music, documents, photos, and video. Backed up online and remotely accessible from their mobile phones or through any web browser, SugarSync's powerful software-service combination, built on the company's patent-pending Universal Synchronization Platform, gives people the easiest way to keep digital media and files automatically in sync across multiple computers.
