Gartner, Inc. has revised its Wireless LAN Equipment: Market Overview, 2007 and determined that Trapeze Networks is the largest privately-held WLAN company, well ahead of its closest competitors, based on revenues. The revision to the report takes into account the OEM sales Trapeze makes to leading networking companies.
"Our OEM businesses with 3Com, Enterasys, Nortel and other large networking companies have been key ingredients of our go-to-market model from the very beginning," stated Jim Vogt, president and CEO of Trapeze Networks. As enterprises recognize the benefits of Mobility, wireless LANs are evolving from a “convenience network”, to become an essential part of the enterprise network infrastructure. In fact, with the advent of 802.11n many industry analysts believe that Wireless LANs could eventually displace wired networks all-together, as the new access layer.
NonStop Wireless technology allows for nonstop operation, in-service upgrades, and hitless failover while dramatically simplifying redundancy configuration. Trapeze's NonStop Wireless reduces capital equipment and ongoing IT operational costs associated with building, maintaining, and growing high availability resilient wireless LANs. NonStop Wireless is the culmination of an intensive multi-year development effort that brings painless, fully automated dynamic redundancy and scaling to wireless LANs for the first time.
Jim Vogt went on saying that, "Now, the Trapeze brand is putting big points on the board and branded sales represent the fastest growing component of our business. For six years, enterprises around the world have invested in Trapeze Smart Mobile and found out they can depend on it for constant connectivity and reliable mobility. Now, Trapeze has upgraded its Smart Mobile architecture by delivering NonStop Wireless, unmatched reliability, and we can already see it igniting the market."
Smart Mobile overcomes all the limitations of current-generation WLANs through breakthrough technology called “intelligent switching”—a significant evolution and advance over today’s limited WLAN architectures. Smart Mobile’s intelligent switching combines both centralized and distributed data forwarding based on the requirements of the underlying application, resulting in optimized traffic flow, reduced latency, and ultra high performance—all without the high cost of upgrading network controller infrastructure.
