The USENIX Association, a forum for presenting cutting edge developments in computing, announced that open access to its conference proceedings will now be available free of charge to the general public. In doing so, USENIX continues to fulfill its mission to support and disseminate research in advanced computing. The Large Installation System Administration Conference has been the premier system administration conference for over 20 years. It offers an unparalled opportunity to meet and mingle with the leaders of the system administration industry. The goal of this conference is to provide attendees with the practical information they need to succeed in their jobs. Information is arranged in a "learn it today—use it tomorrow" format.
USENIX has delivered innumerable industry "firsts" at past conferences, including ONYX, the first attempt at UNIX hardware; the launch of the first UNIX product by Digital Equipment Corporation; the first paper on Sendmail by Eric Allman; the first Perl presentation by Tom Christiansen; and the first report on Oak, which later became Java. The USENIX Association has brought together the community of engineers, system administrators, scientists, and technicians working on the latest advances in the computing world.
EVT seeks to bring together researchers from a variety of disciplines, ranging from computer science and human-computer interaction experts through political scientists, legal experts, election administrators, and voting equipment vendors. In addition to paper presentations, the workshop may include panel discussions with substantial time devoted to questions and answers. The USENIX Security Symposium brings together researchers, practitioners, system administrators, system programmers, and others interested in the latest advances in the security of computer systems and networks.
