Itheon Networks, the Networked Application Performance Lifecycle specialists, announced a major upgrade to its popular Itheon Network Emulator for Windows. This new upgrade offers full support of the Microsoft Vista platform and also now offers advanced scripting of the network conditions, altering them dynamically, as happens in real world networks.
Itheon Network Emulator for Windows is a Windows-based software solution that allows applications running on Windows systems to experience realistic Wide Area, Wireless, GPRS, 3G, Satellite etc. conditions without leaving the LAN. INE for Windows is ideal for checking how well an application will perform in non-LAN environments. INE for Windows was initially developed on Windows XP with static network scenarios. Frank goes on to say, "the move to dynamic scenarios was next on our agenda as it increases the realism of the network conditions by varying them as they would naturally vary in real real-world networks."
INE for Windows installs onto a Windows, XP, Vista or Windows Server system and simulates a variety of wide area network conditions enabling developers, testers and users to experience how application will perform when rolled out into the final production environment. Itheon Networks Emulator family is the most comprehensive range of network emulation products available. It includes software-only solutions, small silent desktop emulators and high-end portable & rack-mount appliances capable of replicating multi-user/multi-site networks.
"Giving full support for INE for Windows on Vista is very important as there is no doubt that this will become the "standard" operating system for both corporate and home users, and organisations are now developing and testing their software for Vista. They'll certainly want to ensure their new Vista software is going to perform properly in WAN, Wireless, Satellite and other non-LAN networks," said Frank Puranik, Itheon Networks Product Director.
INE for Windows allows users to recreate all the major conditions that can affect applications in the network such as latency, jitter, available bandwidth, packet loss/error/reordering etc, and can be controlled asymmetrically or symmetrically. Itheon Networks' Application Performance Monitoring products have enabled many companies to identify, in real time, the causes of poor applications and network performance.
INE for Windows is aimed at the Network Specialist, Professional Developer, Tester or IT Specialist looking for a cost effective, simple to use Network Emulator for testing how their application(s) perform between individual workstations and servers. It may be the first step, before conducting a full multi-user, multi-site test for which the INE Enterprise is recommended.
Itheon Network Emulator products recreate a wide variety of network characteristics that enable companies to develop and test their applications before roll-out. It is then possible to test the performance of new applications in these replicated networks. Using these products from development, through testing to pre-deployment ensures your application will work and perform in its target network without the requirement for painful and expensive fixing, re-coding or re-designing.
