A new AJAX-based Web Interface and a native integration with Microsoft Windows Explorer for its process-centric software change and configuration management (SCCM) solution has been announced by AccuRev Inc. These new capabilities offer new ways to share information and make it easy to integrate every knowledge worker into the development process.
Developed with the Google Web Toolkit, the AccuRev Web Interface, provides a desktop look and feel for accessing files, streams, and version differences
* Development managers can easily browse projects, and perform code reviews from any location. To work on while out of the office, team leads, release engineers or developers may create new streams of development or download files and documents.
* Providing managers and team leads the ability to view changes and dive into pertinent details, Permalinks provide direct browser access to AccuRev-controlled elements in the repository. They can also be used in collaboration tools and frameworks such as wiki’s, forums, and blogs. By associating code changes with issues in change documents, users may also use them to enhance third-party issue tracking systems.
By simply right-clicking in Microsoft Windows Explorer, AccuBridge for Windows Explorer allows users to manage their work under AccuRev version control.
* Product managers, technical writers and other non-programming knowledge workers may now link their work product, such as meeting notes, marketing collateral, product documentation, spreadsheets and presentations, into the overall release.
* Enhances compliance with FDA, Sarbanes-Oxley or other company mandates for process controls and full audit-ability.“Our PeopleSoft and Siebel teams can now easily version their development artifacts with AccuRev using the new AccuBridge for Windows Explorer. Taking advantage of the multiple version history, they no longer are required to keep huge copies of databases lying around and can respond more quickly to maintenance and fix situations,” declared Senior Systems Analyst and AccuRev Administrator at Alaska Airlines, Chris Barnes.
