WiKID Systems, Inc. is proud to announce the release of Version 3.0 of the Enterprise and Community Editions of the WiKID Strong Authentication Server. WiKID provides a simple-to-install, scalable and secure two-factor authentication system to help increase network security and to meet various Compliance requirements, such as PCI/DSS section 8.3 ("Implement two-factor authentication for remote access to the network by employees, administrators, and third parties.")
The WiKID Strong Authentication System is a dual-license two-factor authentication system that combines strong asymmetric encryption with Blackberries, cell phones, PalmOS-devices, and Windows Mobile devices, as well as Windows, Linux and Apple PCs, to create a secure, highly-scalable and flexible one-time password system. Pricing for the Enterprise version starts at only $240 per year for 10 users. The Community version is released under the GPL and has had over 19,000 downloads.
Thanks to its seat-based licensing and simple user management, WiKID is particularly well-suited for companies that need two-factor authentication for non-employees or that have high turnover. Administrators of SSL-based VPNs will also appreciate WiKID's mutual HTTPS authentication, which validates the SSL certificate for the user before presenting the one-time password, thwarting network-based man-in-the-middle attacks.
This form of protection is particularly important due to the prevalence of unsecured Wi-Fi networks. Web developers will appreciate the clean and simple wAuth API supported in Ruby, Python, Java, C# and PHP. The WiKID Strong Authentication Enterprise Edition is available for download as a 30-day free trial in all formats. WiKID also offers convenient online purchasing.
Version 3.0 features additional RADIUS modules that add support for PPTP via MS-CHAP; proxy support, enhanced logging, and user-interface improvements. For the first time, there is a standalone RPM of the Enterprise version, installable on Redhat-based platforms. The WiKID Strong Authentication System consists of three parts: the WiKID server, the WiKID token client and a network client (such as a VPN, website or other service requesting authentication). The WiKID server is written in Java, as is the open source J2SE PC client.
The Enterprise ISO and VMWare software appliance versions include a completely updated and hardened operating system which allows systems administrators more control over the operating system while still providing the fastest way to get started with two-factor authentication.
