WiMAX is Becoming More Popular

Mobile WiMAX or IEE 802.16e, has evolved, according to a newly released report by WTRS (West Technology Research Solutions, LLC), to the point of realistic market acceptance. A condition of strong positive growth for the market for Mobile WiMAX over the next 18 months is created by additional factors.

According to PhD, principal analyst at WTRS, Kirsten West: "Indicators for significant market adoption include the development of the first SoC products, certification of products by the WiMAX forum, and the development of solutions to assure global roaming for mobile WiMAX". "Combined, these opportunities represent a market of nearly 9 million WiMAX chipsets shipping in 2009, with 30% occurring in the Asian Market."

Including WiMAX, HSPA, IEEE 802.16m, WiBRO, both fixed and mobile, and LTE, the newly updated "Wireless Broadband Technology Trends Report Spring 2008" includes coverage of emerging wireless technologies.
