A leading provider of engineering services, National Technical Systems Inc., today announced that it has been approved by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) as an Independent Test Lab (ITL) to perform testing for products based on the Wireless USB 1.0 Specification.Wireless USB combines the best of wired USB with a short-range wireless communications protocol. Supporting up to 127 devices with a bandwidth of up to 480 Mb/s at 3 meters and 100Mb/s at 10 meters, Wireless USB, based on the WiMedia Alliance's Ultra-Wideband (UWB) common radio platform, is backwards compatible with wired USB. Using the same test procedures which have been tested and refined at numerous USB "plugfests" over the past year, NTS performs testing of Wireless USB products. Testing will be available for native device silicon, Device Wire Adapter (DWA) end products, Host Wire Adapter (HWA) and native host (WHCI) and device end-products.
NTS CTO, Osman Sakr, declared: "For almost a decade, NTS has performed testing of the entire range of USB products - from early USB 1.1 peripherals to the latest Wireless USB peripherals." He added: "NTS is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the USB Implementers Forum in providing high-quality compliance and certification services for USB developers."
Companies wishing to submit Wireless USB products for testing, according to USB-IF, should continue to use the existing procedure for submitting the physical product. National Technical Systems, Inc. is a leading provider of engineering services to the defense, telecommunications, aerospace, automotive and high technology markets.
