BitRock today announced the addition of Solaris support for the easy to install open source software packages on http://www.bitnami.org , a site built to help spread the adoption of freely available, high quality open source web applications.
By automating the installation and configuration process, BitNami Stacks are ready-to-run packages that make it easy to get started with open source applications. They enable even non-technical users to have open source applications, such as content management, bug-trackers,blogging platforms, portals, wikis and more in less than five minutes.BitNami Stacks for Solaris include Joomla!, Drupal, Wordpress and MediaWiki. An easy to install distribution of Apache, MySQL and PHP for Solaris, SAMPStack, is also available from BitNami.org. Under the terms of the Apache 2.0 License, each Stack is released as open source, allowing users to download and use the Stacks free of charge.
Including: Redmine, phpBB, Alfresco, Liferay, KnowledgeTree, DokuWiki, Roller, Trac, and WordPress, BitNami also hosts several other stacks for Windows, Linux and OS X that are not yet available for Solaris. Several developer stacks are available for frameworks such as Django, Ruby on Rails and JRuby, in addition to the BitNami application stacks. Solaris versions of the BitNami developer and application stacks will be released over the next few months.
