Axiotron™, Inc., a high-tech hardware solution provider, introduced two new configurations of the Modbook™, its award-winning tablet Mac® computer for creative professionals. Available immediately, the new configurations, include 2.1 GHz or 2.4 GHz Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processors and 120GB or 160GB 5400-rpm hard drives, respectively, making the Modbook up to twice as fast and powerful as any slate-style tablet PC.
Axiotron's announcement follows Apple Inc.'s introduction earlier this week of new and improved MacBook® models. The Axiotron Modbook seamlessly integrates an Apple MacBook computer, a state-of-the-art Wacom® pen digitizer and Axiotron's own hardware and software technology to create a revolutionary slate tablet solution.
Andreas Haas, CEO of Axiotron, said:
"Accepting Apple's invitation to join its Proprietary Solution Provider program last year allows Axiotron to continuously update the Modbook by leveraging Apple's continued leadership in notebook innovation and performance". "As the world's only tablet Mac, the Modbook represents a truly unique combination of power and portability for mobile creative professionals."
The Axiotron Modbook's unparalleled 512 levels of pen pressure sensitivity - twice the capability of any tablet PC on the market - offer a fast, accurate and intuitive pen-based user experience. Each Modbook comes standard with an Axiotron Digitizer Pen featuring two programmable side buttons plus a digital eraser, and three different types of replaceable pen tips. Every Modbook ordered before March 14, 2008, includes an extra Axiotron Digitizer Pen and replaceable pen tips.
The Modbook comes pre-installed with Mac OS® X Leopard™, a built-in iSight® camera, an integrated 24x DVD Combo drive or 8x DVD SuperDrive and a built-in Global Positioning System (GPS), delivering a powerful tablet computing experience like no other. The Modbook's AnyView™ LCD panel and iSight camera are protected by chemically strengthened Axiotron ForceGlass™ with superior optical and anti-aging properties, and, in addition, the acid-treated ForceGlass has an etched surface to create a crisp, paper-like writing sensation.
Being built from top grade, aircraft quality magnesium alloy, both the Modbook's top shell and interior display frame, provide superior structural strength for almost every situation. A triple layer of metal plating - nickel over copper and topped with chrome - results in an extremely scratch resistant and aesthetically pleasing surface, offered in standard satin finish (available immediately) or optional mirror finish (available second quarter of 2008).
