Xiotech Corporation announced multiple customers recently purchased the Xiotech Magnitude 3D 4000 system. New customers include Bound to Stay Books (Jacksonville, Ill.); DCM Services (Minneapolis, Minn.); Marco (St. Cloud, Minn.); and Nuconsteel (Denton, Texas). Nuconsteel, a fully integrated designer and manufacturer of commercial and residential framing solutions, replaced a competitor's storage area network (SAN) system with the Magnitude 3D 4000 solution to better meet its growing business demands. Nuconsteel also selected Xiotech's TimeScale 200 system, which provides continuous data protection and asynchronous replication, to serve as the foundation of the company's data recovery initiative.
The Magnitude 3D 4000 system was announced in October 2007 and expands on the virtualized distributed cluster architecture of Magnitude 3D 3000, while maintaining Xiotech's commitment to ease-of-use, reliability and flexibility. It offers several new features, including the ICON Manager user interface; automatic storage provisioning through Intelligent Provisioning; and simplified integration and customization with ICON Services.
Marco, a Minnesota-based provider of data networking solutions for voice, data, video and print, selected the Magnitude 3D 4000 system to manage its own information, and is a certified reseller of the product. The new engagements demonstrate the continuing appeal of the Magnitude 3D virtualized platform for midsized organizations that are looking for an easy- to-manage storage system that will accommodate future growth.
"Xiotech has a great reputation for ease-of-use, yet proven and advanced technology," stated Carl Lien, director of Information Systems, Marco. "With Magnitude 3D 4000 and ICON Manager, administration of storage and servers is much simpler. We have already greatly reduced the time we spend managing our servers, so we can focus on more strategic IT initiatives, such as integrating our ERP system with Microsoft customer resource management technology and expanding the use of our document management system."
DCM Services also selected the new Magnitude 3D 4000 system. The company helps five of the ten largest U.S. banks protect their brands and maximize their deceased account recoveries, and will use the Xiotech SAN to manage increasing volumes of information. The Magnitude 3D family of storage systems includes six models: Three options within the Magnitude 3D 4000 line and three within the Magnitude 3D 3000 line. Each of these models supports VMware software, providing organizations with the capability to manage their information in a virtualized operating environment.
"We developed an innovative estate-focused approach to collections, and are using the advanced Xiotech SAN solution to easily manage the explosive growth of our proprietary Probate Finder Solution," said Paul D. Hemstock, director of Information Technology, DCM Services, LLC. "Xiotech's SAN ensures high availability and fast access to Probate Finder's 1.8 million estate records, speeding identification of estates and maximizing recoveries for our clients."
The Magnitude 3D 4000 systems feature the ICON Manager user interface, which delivers simplified storage management for novices and experts alike. The Magnitude 3D family offers iSCSI and Fibre Channel connections, as well as multiple tiers of storage, enabling organizations to select the network connectivity, capacity, and functionality that best meets their business needs.
